The Steam Deck is not a game console, it is a PC.
Mine already costs over 800$ CDN and if the next version comes out within two years I would feel guilty spending even more on that version, as I will definitely be very tempted to do so. With all of the improvements I'm anticipating, I'm considering canceling my pre-order for the 512gb model and wait for the the Steam Deck 2.0 as it will probably be more expensive than this round of steam decks. Adding to this, I believe Valve will focus more on making the product as powerful as they can make it, rather than focusing on making it as financially viable as possible, which definitely seemed to be one of their original priorities. They have also brought up the fact that they put a lot of effort into making the lowest spec steam deck, the price that it was, instead of focusing on making the high end model as feature rich as they could, which to their surprise was the most popular model.Īll of this leads me to believe that the second version of the Steam Deck will be leaps and bounds better than the first. I feel like Valve already have a ton of feedback and room for improvement from the little time that the device has been on the market. Really curious about peoples opinions on the second version of steam deck Gabe Newell already confirmed ( ).
